World Series and more

So now that two games have been played between the Cinderalla Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies who do you think will win the series. It's tied at a game a piece. I still believe the Rays will in six games by the way what the heck is a Phillies. Is anyone really excited about this world series and does anyone really care now that neither the Red Sox or the Yankees are playing in the series.

I was recently watching an Adam Sandler movie and in this movie he kicks butt in a upscale snoppy restaurant after he realized he was being made fun by the snobs he was sitting with. I am beginning to think he is the modern day John Wayne. Anyone who can beat up Bob Barker in a movie and get away with it is tough in my book.

Halloween is fast approaching and I still have not decided what I will be this year. It's not like I am like Ken Lecesse who is fashionably dressed for the occasion everyday.

Does anybody really care about this upcoming presidential election. Both candidates scare me plus a candidate that will not salute the flag or say the pledge of alliegance to the flag as one nation under god will not get my vote.

Why do they call the colors what they are. Why is Orange called Orange or Purple called Purple. Why can't Yellow be Purple and Purple be Orange. I guess crayola crayons only know the real answer behind this mystery.

That's all I have for this time. By the way favorite cereal is Count Chocula. Until the next time this is Bubba D saying ciao for now!!!!!!!

Congratulations, Pride & Inspiration

Hello and welcome to Graduation Weekend!!!! It's hard to believe that 25 years ago it was I who was walking across the stage to accept my High School Diploma. Boy do I feel OLD!!! I want to say congratulations to all of this graduates. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors.

It was with great pride on Friday Night I watched my oldest son Nathan cross the stage during the Queensbury High School Graduation Ceremony. My wife and I never thought this day would happen. It was a difficult road for all of us but I could not have been any prouder than I was on Friday Night. Nathan you have made both your Mother and me very proud and we know you will be successful in whatever you do. Just take what you have learned already in life and use it as a tool as a positive influence for the rest of your life.

I was also lucky to see a good friend of mine and the radio station Stephen Wright cross the stage to accept his diploma. For those of you who do not know Stephen he has Cerebal Palsy and as he was wheeled across the stage he received the loudest and longest applause of the night. What an inspiration Stephen has been to not only me but I am sure to alot of other people he has touched in his life. To watch a person with the physical challenges Stephen has achieve such an honor and to watch him grow into a fine young man is so inspirational. When I am having a bad all I have to do is think about Stephen and my son Nathan with all of the challenges they have gone through in their lives and it lifts me up and it makes what ever challenges I am having that day seem so little and not all that bad.

My hope is that my youngest son Adam will look at his brother and Stephen and be inspired and fight through his challenges and complete his education. I know both Stephen and Nathan have inspired me and I am proud they have been part of my life.

Once again congratulations to the Class of 2008 and may you find inspiration in whatever life challenges you may endure in the future.

Random Thoughts

I want to start out by saying thanks to all of the area high school athletic directors who were a tremendous help this past season with the Glens Falls Hospital Rehabilatation Center High School Sports Academy. I look forward to working with all of you again next year.

I also want to take the time to say a special thank you to Tom Heizelman. Mr. Heizelman is retiring as Athletic Director and Football Coach at Hudson Falls High School. He has always been very accomodating to us here at the radio station and I wish him nothing but the best in his retirement as he enjoys his youngest sons senior year at Ithaca College.

Let's send out kudos to the City of Glens Falls DPW for their work this past week fixing up Dix Avenue and some of the side streets. The repaving project has made traveling those streets better. Just another sign on how harsh the winter weather can be here in the North Country.

Can you believe that Summer Jam 2008 is less than two weeks away. Once again kudos to Dan and Pete, the City of Glens Falls and everyone else involved for planning and putting together what should be another chart topper for Summer Jams.

Well that's it for this time. Until the next time take care.

Some Happy and some not so happy thoughts

It's been awhile since I have written anything here and I apologize for that. This has been a tough week both on a personal level and on a national level. Let's start out with some happy first. That is if you are a Boston Celtics fan. The Celtics on Tuesday night completed their NBA Finals series with the Los Angeles Lakers beating the Lakers in six games. The Celtics in reality could have swept this series but I am of the belief that the NBA wanted this series to go longer than that. Not that I believe in any conspiracy theories or anything like that..wink wink. The way the Celtics totally manhandled the Lakers in game six beating Los Angeles by 39-points to win their 17th NBA title was pure joy for me. Is there anything like seeing the look of frustration on Kobe Bryants face. It was priceless.
Now to the not so happy. We lost Tim Russert who was the mediator of the NBC show "Meet the Press". Tim was not only a great host of the show but a great person. You never know how much you affect people's lives until after your gone and by judging what people had to say about him in the hours and days following his death it's safe to say that he was loved by many. Although I never met him I felt like I knew him through his Sunday Show and his political coverage. Somehow the presidential race will not be the same without him providing his insight.

On a personal note my family and me lost a great friend this week. We had to put our beautiful Golden Retriever named Argo down on Tuesday. This is not the first dog we have to let go but this one hurts more. Argo was part of our family for 12 years. He had a great personality and when he wanted your attention he would't stop head butting you until you at least put your hand on his head. Argo had cancer and we had to make the tough choice. It's not easy making the right choice sometimes. I take comfort knowing he is no longer in pain and he is up in heaven with his two brothers who went before him. I can Ben, Austin and Argo all together. You will forever be in my heart Argo and you will forever be our hero.

It finally feels like spring

WOW!! What a great week we had for weather. Sun and temperatures in the upper 60's to low 70's in some cases. I hope you a chance to get out and enjoy some of it. With the better means now the road crews and can finally get out and do some work on the roads that were destroyed this winter. There are a number of repaving projects coming up so as a public service just beware and be nice and patient. That's easy for me to say. I am definitely not the king of patience.

Another sign of better weather is the increase in gas prices. A week ago gas was $3.40 a gallon. I gased up the Scion last night and it was $3.57 a gallon for regular. I have yet to hear any of the presidential candiates adress this issue. One candidate says he's all about change, the other says they will bring meaningful change and third candidate just today said if he's president his first line of business will be introduce a half a trillion dollars worth of budget cuts. I can only imagine what they will be. In each case none of the three have addressed the energy issue in this country with any great detail. We are in the middle of an engergy crisis and those who are being hurt the most by this is people like you and me. The little guy who have to work multiple jobs in some cases just to make ends meet.

Has anybody been paying attention to the NHL playoffs. First, I have to say congratulations to Pittsburgh ,the New York Rangers and Colorado for advancing past the first round. Both the Penquins and Rangers made quick work of Ottawa and New Jersey. It took the Av's a little longer to beat Minnesota but they were able to prevail. Now I have to get to the Boston Bruins. I am a quiet Bruins fan and nobody gave them much of a chance against Montreal. Well if you look now they are now tied at three games a piece following a big come from behind win in game six last night. They trailed 3-1 at one point in that game and trailed the series three games to one. The Bruins as an organization are 0-20 when trailing three games to one in a playoff series. Hopefully that will change. Game 7 is tomorrow night in Montreal. Have I got stories about Montreal and my visit there when I was much younger. Unfournately those stories cannot be written here..LOL. LET'S GO BRUINS.

Finally, It was good to have Pope Benedict XVI visit the United States. I was able to catch some of his mass from St. Patricks Cathedral in New York City Saturday and look forward to watching his mass from Yankee Stadium this afternoon (Sunday). I hope he leaves enough blessing at the Baseball Cathredal to help the team out of it's early season woes. I kept saying to myself it was OK they did not give up the kids to trade for Johan Santana. I told myself it will be ok to lose with the kid pitchers this year. Well it's only 19 games into the season and I know there is still a lot of baseball left to play but my patience is beginning to wear a bit thin. I guess I lied to myself. So please Pope Benedict when you bless the crowd at today's mass leave a little blessing for it's baseball tennant.

Ok that's enough Nibbles and Bits for this time. Have a great week. Peace.

Brian
